Jaipur: A man and his sister climbed atop an overhead water tank this morning demanding withdrawal of a case lodged against a man who had supported them in seeking a CBI probe into their journalist father`s death a year ago.
Lokesh Soni, a scribe in Hanumangarh here, had died under suspicious circumstances a year ago, and his relatives have been demanding a CBI probe in the case, DCP Ravi said. The agitation was supported by a local man, Sahabram, who, during a protest last month to press for CBI inquiry, allegedly provoked protesters to pelt stones at policemen, he said. Sahabram was booked by the Hanumangarh police after the incident in which a policeman was injured, he said. At Sahabram`s behest, Pankaj and his sister Payal climbed the water tank in Sindhi camp area to demand withdrawal of the case against him, the DCP said. They also demanded action against ADG (Law and Order), SHO and an ASI of Sangaria police station of Hanumangarh for action taken against protestors last month, he said. They refused to come down until their demands were met, he said, adding that efforts were on to pacify them. PTI
