Chennai: Water from Bhavanisagar Reservoir in Erode district would be released from August 23 for irrigation in Erode, Tiruppur and Karur districts.
Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Sunday ordered release of water from the dam into Lower Bhavani Project Canal, Extension Canal and Chennasamudram Distribution Canal sluices.
"I am happy to inform that 1,03,500 acres of land in Erode, Tiruppur and Karur districts would be getting irrigation facility for the first crop by the release of water, the Chief Minister said in a statement here.
