One killed in explosion near Shia mosque in Kabul

Kabul: At least one persons was killed and four others were injured as an explosion ripped through a busy road in Afghanistan capital Kabul on Wednesday, the police said.

According to initial information, the person was killed in the blast near a Shia mosque in Dasht-e-Barchi area, Xinhua news agency quoted a police official as saying.

An investigation has been initiated into the incident, the police said.

The apparent target of the blast was an Afghan Parliament member`s convoy passing by in the area, a witness said.

Ambulances and civilian cars evacuated the victims to the nearby hospitals, the witness said.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
