Pakistan government's official website: www.pakistan.gov.pk was crippled for sometime.

According to Twitter users, the website opened with a hacker message which celebrated India’s Independence day and the country's national anthem playing in the background.

One such Twitter user took a screen grab of the Pakistan government website and shared it on the micro-blogging website.

The hacking of Pakistan government website is yet another example of its poor maintenance and its vulnerability to cyber attacks.

This incident reportedly took place around 2.45 pm, and the website was back in operation only after several minutes.

This is not the first time that hackers have defaced Pakistan government websites.

Two months back, 30 Pakistan government websites were hacked to avenge the death sentence given to Indian national Kulbhushan Jadhav on spying charges.

Indian and Pakistani hackers have regularly taken down official websites belonging to the rival country over the last few years.
