Congress washed out in Hadouti region

Kota: Handing out defeat to key Congress candidates, BJP washed out the ruling party completely in Hadouti region of Rajasthan by winning 16 out of 17 seats.

Only debutant Ashok Chandana, also state youth Congress president, could save the face of his party by winning over 18,000 votes against BJP candidate Mahipat Singh Hada from Hindoli assembly seat.

The key Congress candidates who faced defeat are NCW chairperson Mamata Sharma from Bundi, Shanti Dhariwal from Kota North, Bharat Singh from Sangod and Promod Jain Bhaya from Anta assembly seat of the region.

The BJP leaders who won the elections in the region include state BJP president and chief ministerial candidate Vasundhara Raje from Jhalawar and ex BJP minister Pratap Singh Singhvi from Chabra.

NCW chairperson Mamta Sharma faced stunning defeat by 27,636 votes against BJP's Ashok Dogera.

Ex UDH minister Shanti Dahriwal, one of the strong leaders of state Congress and ex PWD minister Bharat Singh were defeated by 14861 votes and 19232 votes respectively from Kota North and Sangod assembly seats.

Ex minister from Congress Promod Jain Bhaya, who had never seen defeat in his political career, lost the Anta seat by 3399 votes against BJP?s ex agriculture minister Prabhulal Saini.

State BJP president and chief ministerial candidate Vasundhara Raje registered her win from Jhalarapatan seat by huge margin of 60896 votes against Congress' Meenakshi Chandrawat.

But ex BJP minister Pratap Singh Shinghvi took a lead with recorded victory by 61385 votes against Congress? Prakeshchand Nagar from Chabra assembly constituency of Baran district.

Ex Parliament secretary of last BJP government Om Birla also achieved heavy win by 49439 votes against debut contesting leader of Congress from Kota South Pankaj Metha.

The first time introduced option in EVM machine NOTA (None Of the Above) was exercised by 58,595 voters in Hadouti region with the highest number of 7230 NOTA votes from Keshoraipatan seat of Bundi district.

The lowest number of NOTA in Hadouti was opted by 1976 voters in Anta seat of Baran district.
