Congress releases manifesto for Rajasthan Assembly elections, promises loan waiver to farmers

The Congress on Thursday morning released the party manifesto for the Rajasthan Assembly election 2018. In the manifesto titled 'Jan Ghoshna Patra', released by Rajasthan unit chief Sachin Pilot, the Congress promised to waive farmers’ loan.

The Congress has also promised jobs to youth, free education to women and right to health in the manifesto for Rajasthan elections.

Former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot, among others, attended the launch event of the manifesto.

Addressing mediapersons at the event, Sachin Pilot said that expectations of common people were sought before finalising the manifesto. "This is called Jan Ghoshna Patra because it is not just about the thoughts of Congress leaders and workers. We have incorporated the voice of common man of Rajasthan."

Hitting out at the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Rajasthan Congress chief said, "BJP also recently released another Ghoshna Patra. I find it amusing because they have been in power for the last five years and instead of 'Ghoshna', they should talk about the work done by them for the state, and promises that they have not fulfilled."

Pilot further said that the farmers have been the worst hit under the BJP regime.

One of the highlights of the manifesto is a promise to regulate the curriculum being taught in schools and colleges to allign the same with the needs of industries.

"Something else is taught in school and colleges, and industries have different demands. They have to organise training programmes for all new recruits. We would re-design the curriculum as per the requirement of industries so that more jobs could be created," said Pilot.
