Toyota Innova Crysta continues dream run, Hexa loses grip

Last month’s sales results of the MUV segment were surprising. No, the surprise wasn’t the progress of the Toyota Innova Crysta, but rather the plunge in sales of the Hexa, right in the second month of its launch. While the Innova saw its sales rise by more than 20 per cent, the Hexa’s sales declined by 31 percent on month-on-month basis. Toyota sold 6054 units of its Innova in February, while Tata managed to sell only 1026 units of the Hexa in the same month.

The Japanese automaker has been enjoying unchallenged supremacy in the MUV segment and despite the rise in prices with the next-gen Innova, consumers are still opting for the vehicle. This speaks for the sheer trust the Innova badge carries in India. Launched in May 2016, Toyota has sold more than 67500 units of the MUV.

Tata Hexa

On the other hand, the Tata Hexa has been loaded with plenty of features and is one of the most value for money cars available in the market today. However, it seems, buyers aren’t willing to experiment with a Tata when they have a proven horse in the form of the Innova. However, it’s too early to comment on the Hexa’s absorption in the market. We’ll get a clearer picture in the next 2-3 months when the demand and the dispatch settle.

The UV segment also includes names such as the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Chevrolet Enjoy and the Honda Mobilio. Among the three, it’s only the Ertiga which boasts an impressive figure of more than 5500 units sold in the last month. The latter two, it seems, are just waiting for their respective manufacturers to pull the plug. Of the two, the Mobilio’s production has already stopped due to poor demand. Let’s see how much longer the Enjoy can really enjoy its stay in Chevy showrooms.

If given an option to choose from Innova Crysta, Hexa and Ertiga, which one will you choose? Let us know in the comment section below.
