An FIR has been registered against Bengaluru district youth Congress leader for allegedly beating up a person in a restaurant in the Karnataka capital. The FIR names youth Congress general secretary Mohammed Haris Nalapad and 10 others for the alleged violence in UB City of Bengaluru.
The Congress later suspended Mohammed for six years, informed G Parameshwara, president of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee.
The party leader has also been accused of threatening the victim, identified as Vidyut, at a hospital where he was admitted for treatment.
Accused Congress leader is the son of Shantinagar MLA NA Haris.
He was appointed the general secretary of the youth Congress after emerging victorious in an election held by the Congress for the post in May 2017. He was also the executive director of the Nalapad Group of Companies.
The police are reportedly questioning the restaurant owner and other people who were there at the time of the incident.
In 2016, his brother Umar was accused of assaulting a man outside a pub in Shantinagar area of Bengaluru. Reports said that the police had refused to file an FIR in the case. The pub owner was quoted in reports as saying that Umar was not involved in the incident.
