A CCTV footage has emerged from the night of December 31, 2017 where a couple was thrashed in Bengaluru. It can be seen in the video that a few men, seemingly in an inebriated state, stopped a couple who was crossing them on a bike.

BENGALURU: A CCTV footage has emerged from the night of December 31, 2017 where a couple was thrashed in Bengaluru. It can be seen in the video that a few men, seemingly in an inebriated state, stopped a couple who was crossing them on a bike.

The group of men then started beating the man driving the bike forcing him and the girl sitting behind him to get off the vehicle.

From what it looks like in the video, the couple was attacked without any reason or any altercation.

Before the couple came into the picture, the group of men can be seen dancing on the road. The incident took place on New Year’s Eve. 

One person has been arrested in connection with the incident. 

The incident took place at a time when there was heightened security in the IT city. Nearly 15,000 police personnel including women constables were deployed across the city to keep an eye on New Year revellers.

An additional 500 CCTVs were installed across the city for better surveillance. Police had stated that those creating nuisance in public places like pubs, bars, restaurants and streets will be immediately taken into custody.

There were about 2,000 cops stationed on Brigade Road, Church Street and MG Road in the city`s central business district, popular for restaurants, pubs and shopping.

The police had also used drones to track the movement of vehicles and revellers, bomb and dog squads across the city to maintain law and order during the night-long bash.
