Mumbai: Sanjay Leela Bhansali left the audiences spellbound once again by unveiling the trailer of a painting in motion – Padmavati – a few days back. The trailer of the film starring Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh exhibited royalty in every single frame and viewers were in awe of the grandeur that was depicted on screen.

A master craftsman that he is, Bhansali wanted his characters to look as authentic and real as possible and hence he left no stone unturned in designing their looks. A great amount of time and money were also invested to get the jewellery right because the film is set in the backdrop of the 13th century, when the country witnessed the times of the Royals and their glory.

Gold and diamond jewellery brand Tanishq has been involved with the makers to make the film look even more real. The mammoth task of crafting jewellery began way before the film went on floors. Over 200 craftsmen worked for over 600 days moulding 400 kilos of gold to deliver exotic pieces of jewellery for the star cast.

Watch the video below to see how the enormous task got translated in real.

Set in the backdrop of India in the 13th century, the film revolves around the times of Rawal Ratan Singh, the Rajput of Mewar, his Queen Rani Padmini and Alauddin Khilji.

Deepika essays the role of Rani Padmini, Shahid essays Rawal Ratan Singh while Ranveer portrays the character of Alauddin Khilji.

Slated to release on December 1, Padmavati is one of Bhansali’s most ambitious films and it also stars Aditi Rao Hydari, Jim Sarbh (as Malik Kafur) and Raza Murad.
