New Delhi: Apart from his latest link-up rumours with Alia Bhatt and marriage reports, actor Ranbir Kapoor has also been making much news for his upcoming biographical 'Sanju', which based on actor Sanjay Dutt.

The film trailer and songs have so far received positive praises from the critics. Ranbir too has been getting rave reviews for his stellar performance in the promotional videos.

There were reports that apparently, Salman, who happens to share a good rapport with Sanjay Dutt, wasn't too pleased with the film trailer. The superstar had a rather different opinion on the matter and questioned director Rajkumar Hirani for not choosing Sanjay himself to play himself in the later part of the film.

As per Salman, Sanjay would have done better justice to the film and no one else could have done it better than him.

Recently, during a promotional event of the film, Ranbir was asked to comment on this to which he said, "It has never happened that a person played himself in his own biopic. This destroys the effect of a character. I knew that I will be compared to Sanjay Dutt and that is why I have tried my best to do justice to his role."

"Whether people see me in 40-year old Sanjay Dutt's avatar or 20-year old, they should feel that they are watching an artist who is playing Sanjay Dutt. It is correct that I cannot become a second Sanjay Dutt," he added.

'Sanju' has an ensemble star cast with the likes of Ranbir playing the titular role of Dutt. It stars Sonam Kapoor, Dia Mirza, Paresh Rawal, Manisha Koirala, Anushka Sharma, Karishma Tanna, Jim Sarbh to name a few.

Expectations are high from this one as Ranbir has put in a lot of hard work to completely transform himself into looking like the real-life Dutt. The teaser has received a positive response and now all eyes set for the big release.

The film will be hitting the screens on June 29, 2018.
