Salman Khan's Race 3 emerges as biggest opener of 2018 — Check out film's day 1 collection

'Race 3', which has high-octane action drama, is expected to min Rs 100 crore in its first weekend.

New Delhi: Salman Khan's Eid gift to fans, 'Race 3' arrived at theatres on June 15. The film, high on glitz, glamour and some kickass action, was one of the most awaited releases of this year.

Though the film has garnered a mixed response from the critics, it did not stop Khan's fan from thronging the theatres. The film has recorded a gigantic start and has emerged as the biggest opener of this year. As per experts, the film has collected over Rs 29 crore on its first day. 

Noted trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh shared the film collection writing, "#Race3 records a GIGANTIC START, despite pre-Eid making a dent in its business... Emerges the BIGGEST OPENER of 2018 [so far]... Fri ₹ 29.17 cr. India biz... With #Eid festivities commencing today [Sat], #Race3 is expected to post MASSIVE NUMBERS."

If the early figures are anything to go by, 'Race 3' has dethroned Tiger Shroff and Disha Patani-starrer 'Baaghi 2' to become the highest opening film of the year so far. The Tiger Shroff-Disha Patani starrer had collected Rs 25 crore on the first day of its release.

On Friday, trade pundits had predicted that the film will see an opening of Rs 30 crore and will collect Rs 100 crore in its first week. In the past, three Salman starrers have achieved this figure in three days.

Since last several years, the festival of Eid belongs to Salman Khan. And this year, it will be no different. Taran shared a list of Salman's film that saw the Box Office soaring.

In addition, the Salman-starrer is also a solo release at the Box Office. As no other film is scheduled for release for the next two week, 'Race 3' will not have to battle it out with any other film and will have a solo-run at the Box Office until June 29. 

Rajkumar Hirani's upcoming film 'Sanju', which is a biopic on Sanjay Dutt, has been scheduled for release on June 29. Till then, 'Race 3' will have a good amount of screen to perform at the Box Office. And looking at its day one performance, the film is undoubtedly going to create a new shattering record at the ticket counter.

Directed by choreographer-turned-director Remo D'Souza, the film also features Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Jacqueline Fernandez, Daisy Shah and Saqib Saleem playing pivotal parts. 'Race 3' has been produced by Tips Films.

Saif Ali Khan had played the lead role in previous 'Race' films but this time Salman has stepped into his shoes and it will be interesting to see how different his character portrayal will be. Salman and Jacqueline have done 'Kick' together and 'Race 3' is their second outing together.
