Toilet-Ek Prem Katha: Will Akshay Kumar’s film set the Box Office cash registers ringing?

Mumbai: Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar’s much awaited satirical social drama – Toilet-Ek Prem Katha – is all set to release this Friday. Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Toilet-Ek Prem Katha highlights the urgent need for setting up hygienic sanitation facility in rural India.

The film which was initially scheduled for a clash with Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ at the Box Office, will now have no competition since the latter’s romantic flick released a week before, i.e., on August 4.

And now it will be interesting to see how much business TEPK generates at the Box Office. Given the fact that Bollywood films have failed to impress moviegoers in the recent past, Akshay’s film based on a social issue has to connect to the audiences, so as to emerge as a hit at the BO.

Surprisingly, both Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan’s much hyped and publicised films – Tubelight and Jab Harry Met Sejal – respectively have proved to be disastrous.

And this year hasn’t been all that great for Bollywood, given the fact that only a handful of films could win audiences love and appreciation from critics alike. Apart from SS Rajamouli’s Hindi version of ‘Baahubali: The Conclusion’, no other film could take the Box Office by storm.

And now, the onus lies on TEPK to cast a magical spell and bail out Bollywood from troubled waters.

Will Akshay Kumar succeed? Let’s wait and watch.
