New Delhi: Hyundai Creta, which was launched in July 2015 has edged out the popular models like Mahindra Bolero, Scorpio, Tata Innova and has become the best selling SUV in India. The company sold 7,900 units of Creta in April 2016.

On the other hand, Maruti Suzuki's Vitara Brezza launched in March has done exceptionally well for itself by reaching the number two spot in just a couple of months of the launch. The SUV sold 7, 832 units in April 2016,

Mahindra Bolero, which used to be the number one selling SUV registered significant drop in sales. In April 2016, the car sold 5,875 units, against 8,729 units sold same time last year, a drop of around 33 percent in its annual sales. The SUV stood at number three position, down from the number one spot.

Toyota Innova reigning on number two spot till last year, sold 4,269 units in April 2016, against 5,266 units sold same time last year, and has moved to number seven slot. The sales of the car faced the brunt of the Supreme Court's ban on registration of diesel vehicles with engine over 2000cc in the NCR.

Mahindra Scorpio, which used to be on number three spot in terms of sales, has seen a drop in annual sale by 8 percent. It sold 4,328 units in April 2016, against 4,730 units sold same time last year. It has reached the number six spot i terms of sales.
