Los Angeles: The 3D action-epic ‘Immortals’ topped the US weekend box office with an opening revenue of 32 million dollars, while grossing another 36 million dollars overseas.
Adam Sandler’s new holiday family flick ‘Jack and Jill’ opened to 26 million dollars while DreamWorks Animation and Paramount holdover ‘Puss in Boots’ remained a worthy opponent in its third weekend and followed closely with 25.5 million dollars, The Hollywood Reporter reported.
Universal Pictures’ ‘Tower Heist’ stepped in at number four with 13.2 million dollars, while Clint Eastwood’s ‘J. Edgar’ biopic, starring Leonardo DiCaprio bowed to 11.5 million dollars rounded the top five.
The top five movies on the weekend domestic box office were:
Immortals – 32 million dollars
Jack and Jill – 26 million dollars
Puss in Boots – 25.5 million dollars
Tower Heist – 13.2 million dollars
J Edgar – 11.5 million dollars
