New Yamaha R15 S fixes model’s awkward seating issues

The Yamaha R15 one of the most popular bikes among the youth for its style and fashion statement. And if you are one of the owners of the high-end model, the pillion of the Yamaha R15 is rather very high and unusually awkward the seating is thanks to the split-seat set up of the bike. Well, it appears that India Yamaha Motor has finally heeded to customer feedback to launch a new ‘single seat’ variant of the bike called the YZF – R15 S. The single seat variant puts the pillion in a substantially lower and conventional seating position, making it a more practical and comfortable bike than before.

The mechanicals on the R15 S are the same as the regular split-seat version – a liquid-cooled, 4-stroke 150cc engine that puts out 17PS of power. The bike is available in three shades – Track White, Adrenaline Red and Spark green – and the decals have been refreshed as well. Priced at Rs 1.14 lakh, the new variant will be sold alongside the R15 V2.0 which comes with the split seats.

Speaking about the new variant, Roy Kurian, Vice President - Sales & Marketing, Yamaha Motor India Sales said, “Our research showed that a particular customer segment desired for a single seat version as it is more convenient for the pillion rider. Even so, the split seat version 2.0 will also continue to be in the market along with the new single seat variant. We, at Yamaha keep our customers first and hence this introduction was imperative.”
