New Delhi: After one and a half years of taking over TaxiForSure, cab-hailing taxi app services Ola has snapped ties with it and is laying off upto 1,000 employees.

Ola has given the employees three months’ salary as compensation, media reports quoting insider sources have said.

However, Radio taxi and cab booking service TaxiForSure continues to figure on Ola app.

This was the statement released by Ola said, “The TaxiForSure (TFS) value proposition as an economy brand for customers, has been seamlessly integrated onto the Ola platform with the launch and rapid adoption of Ola Micro.”

“TFS has contributed immensely towards Ola Micro’s success within a short span of time. Ola Micro has expanded to over 90 cities across India and accounts for the largest share of first time cab users coming onto any mobility platform. This has helped us achieve our objective of building an economy mobility offering for millions of users across the country,” it added.

Ola Cabs acquired TaxiForSure in March last year in a $200-million cash and equity arrangement deal.

The company declined comment on the fleet size of TaxiForSure, the driver-partners in the network or the back-end staff dedicated to the service. The company also did not share if it intended to do away with the TaxiForSure brand completely.

The cities served by TaxiForSure include the Delhi National Capital Region, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune.
