Gaga`s new song upsets Catholic leaders

Gaga’s ‘Judas’ has sparked an outrage among the Catholic faithful.

London: Lady Gaga’s new single ‘Judas’ has sparked an outrage among the Catholic faithful.
The singer, 25, takes on the Bible in the forthcoming music video for the single, in which she portrays Mary Magdalene and actor Norman Reedus stars as Judas, who is well known among Christians as the apostle who betrayed Jesus. The song, which was released recently, has outraged religious figures because of the apparently blasphemous tone of the lyrics where Gaga sings that she is ``in love with Judas``. The accompanying video to the track is due to be released later this month - but the song has already angered the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights. Bill Donohue, the group’s president, has accused the star of using shock tactics and Christian idolatry to advance her career. “This is a stunt... Lady Gaga tries to continue to shock Catholics and Christians in general: she dresses as a nun... she swallows the rosary. She has now morphed into a caricature of herself,” the Daily Mail quoted Donohue as telling HollywoodLife.com. The newly released single includes such lyrics as ``I want to love you,/but something’s pulling me away from you/Jesus is my virtue, and Judas is the demon I cling to….I’m just a holy fool,/ oh baby he’s so cruel,/ but I’m still in love with Judas, baby.`` But the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights were not amused. “She is trying to rip off Christian idolatry to shore up her talentless, mundane and boring performances, “ Donohue said. According to iTunes, the song is a huge hit and is currently the website`s top selling single. ANI
