Ali wants Bono and Bollywood for Pak relief

New Delhi: Pakistani heartthrob Ali Zafar is a busy man and it has nothing to do with Bollywood. The singer who made his film debut with the hit `Tere Bin Laden` is hard at work roping in superstars like Bono and Sting for a `Live Aid` style concert for flood relief back home.

Zafar who hit headlines once again after being cast opposite Katrina Kaif and Imran Khan in Aditya Chopra`s next, says that his country is in desperate need for help. And he wants Bollywood to step in as the knight in shining armour. "People in Pakistan really look upto Bollywood celebrities and any help from them would be great to boost everyone`s morale in such desperate times. I have already contacted Bono and Sting through their managers and am hoping for a positive reply," Zafar told reporters. The 30-year-old says that raising funds for the approximately 17 million Pakistani people affected by the floods, is at the top of his priority list right now. "I am planning a big concert in Pakistan and some international concerts. The proceeds of all will go towards relief and rehabilitation of the flood victims," said Zafar who lamented the lack of international support for the cause of Pakistan. "Why is Pakistan not getting the same kind of help and support as Haiti? That is a big question. After many efforts to raise awareness, help is finally pouring in and international celebrities like Angelina Jolie have taken up the cause," said the `Sajania` hitmaker. The artiste who has sold more than than seven million copies of his albums worldwide, says that he feels blessed by the success and now wants to give back. "I am thankful for the good things in my life and god has now given me an opportunity to help those suffering because of the calamity. And I want to give it my all," said Zafar. The singer called Pakistan`s `Prince of Pop` says that the need of the hour is for everyone to respond to the call of humanity, ignoring national boundaries and politics. "I request fans around the world to respond to the human suffering with humanity, because that is the one thing that bind us all together," said Zafar. PTI
