The Patel Chowk metro museum was opened for public two years ago.

New Delhi: South Asia`s first metro museum, showcasing the Delhi Metro -- at Patel Chowk metro station here, celebrated its second anniversary Friday by conducting quiz and drawing competitions for school children.
The competition, arranged by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), saw participation of students of classes 5 to 10 from various schools across the city. According to DMRC, the questions asked in the quiz competition aimed at increasing the awareness among students about the metro -- its rules and regulations -- while the drawing competition was based on the theme `Delhi Metro - the city`s lifeline`. "We arranged the topics of the competitions in such a way that it helps the students to be more aware about the rules and regulations in the metro, which will help them to maintain better discipline during their travel," DMRC chief spokesperson Anuj Dayal said. He also said that Delhi metro organises competition and visits to the metro museum for the school children on a regular basis. The metro museum at Patel Chowk metro station was opened for public two years ago and it showcases the genesis, history and journey of the DMRC. The museum has 26 informative panels along with working models of the Operational Control Centre (OCC) and a Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM), a miniature of the Delhi Metro mascot, station models and a display of a detailed route map. "In the last two years, we have added more exhibits and information panels. Specially designed Delhi Metro key chains were added to the souvenir counter as a sale item," Dayal said. Apart from miniature train models, metro tie pins and cufflinks are available at the counter. The museum is opened from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on all days except Monday. IANS
