Adele cancels remaining 2011 gigs for throat surgery

London: British singer Adele is set to undergo a throat surgery to cure the vocal chord haemorrhage that has threatened her career.

She was going to perform a number of shows in UK starting November 7 but had to cancel all of them along with her commitments for the rest of the year in order to have time to recuperate. The 23-year-old singer had also apologised to US fans last month for cancelling her shows as her voice just kept ‘switching off’. “It is with deep regret that Adele has been forced to cancel her remaining live dates and promotional appearances in 2011,” the Telegraph quoted a Adele as saying in a statement. “She is to undergo surgery to alleviate the current issues with her throat and a full recovery is expected. As a result, doctors have ordered her to rest her voice and completely recuperate before looking to schedule any work commitments. The ‘Someone Like You’ singer had struggled with chest infections earlier this year and later found out about the problems with vocal chords too. In a blog post earlier this month she said that she was ‘heartbroken and worried’ about her condition and had ‘absolutely no choice but to recuperate properly and fully’ or risk damaging her voice forever. “Singing is literally my life - it’s my hobby, my love, my freedom and now my job,” the blog said.
