London: Avril Lavigne is known for her tomboyish style but the pop singer says that her fashion sense has become sophisticated over time.
The 26-year-old singer famous for her trade mark necktie and sneakers combination now prefers dresses and heels. With the launch of her debut clothing range `Abbey Dawn` last year, Lavigne says that her style has matured, reported a website.
"When I was younger, I dressed skater and had that whole thing going on. But as I grew up, I eventually started wearing heels and dresses. Over time, fashion choices change. Now that I`m older and have a fashion line, I`m more into fashion," said the `Complicated` hitmaker.
"I like to dress with rock `n` roll elements and be casual. I like jeans with rips and skulls, but now I wear more flattering pieces. I would never have worn heels or tight trousers before, or dresses. Today, though, I enjoy it. I`ve grown up," said the singer.
Following the success of her clothing line, Lavigne has revealed that she designs her own clothes and it has boosted her self confidence.
"The inspiration for my line comes from my personal style. I`m not a huge fan of floral. I like stripes and plaid and polka dots and all-over prints of skulls. I`m designing it for me, really. It gave me the confidence. It`s about having fun. It`s a lot of fun. It`s another way to be creative," added the singer.
