Amazon offers ads opt-out on new Kindle Fire

Washington: Amazon has said that it would allow customers to pay to opt out of advertisements on its new Kindle Fire devices.

Now, users need to pay 15 extra dollars extra to avoid seeing ads that would otherwise be occasionally displayed on the devices.

According to Mashable, the company revealed the reversal of its no-opt-out policy a day after the new tablets were introduced.

“I wanted to let you know that with Kindle Fire HD there will be a special offers opt-out option for 15 dollars,” an Amazon spokesperson said in an email sent to multiple publications.

“We know from our Kindle reader line that customers love our special offers and very few people choose to opt out. We’re happy to offer customers the choice,” the spokesperson added.

The ads appear on the devices'' lock screen and on some screen savers.

The Seattle-based firm introduced its new line of Kindle Fire tablets on Thursday.
