Cameron’s ‘Avatar’ wins Oscar for best art direction

James Cameron’s sci-fi epic ‘Avatar’ won the Oscar for best art direction on Sunday at the 82nd Academy Awards. Rick Carter, Robert Stromberg, Kim Sinclair walked away with the best art direction Oscar for the globally acclaimed ‘Avatar’. A few days back, Cameron had said that he wanted his former wife Kathryn Bigelow to beat to him to the Oscar for Best Director, saying it’ll be cool to lose to her.

Los Angeles: James Cameron’s blockbuster sci-fi epic ‘Avatar’ won the Oscar for best art direction on Sunday at the 82nd Academy Awards. Rick Carter, Robert Stromberg, Kim Sinclair walked away with the best art direction Oscar for the globally acclaimed ‘Avatar’. Also, Sandy Powell bagged the Oscar for best costume design for ‘The Young Victoria’. This was Powell`s third win at the Academy awards. Earlier, she won awards for `Shakespeare in Love` and `The Aviator`. A few days back, ‘Avatar’ director James Cameron has said that he wanted his former wife Kathryn Bigelow to beat to him to the Oscar for Best Director, saying it’ll be cool to lose to her.
