Serial killers on ramp by Chauhan

Designer Samant Chauhan's collection was based on serial killers.

It was bloodbath on the ramp when designer Samant Chauhan decided to bring serial killers on the runway. Donning spooky masks, bizarre trousers and rustic jackets, the creative lad gave fashion a new meaning, the designs being deviant but wearable. “I had conceptualized this collection long time back and was working on it for a long time. A lot of research has gone in to it. We studied deeply the psyche of serial killers, their style, behaviour and mannerisms”, says Samant. The models walked the ramp with queer masks and arresting garments. The trousers with a leather patch attached to it and jackets with hidden pockets to squirrel away your stuff. Surprisingly, it would make crimes all the more easier, “Jokes apart this collection is not for criminals. It is street couture, which would be a style statement on itself. I had watched Anthony Hopkins’s ‘Silence of the Lamb,’ then there was ‘A Clockwork Orange’; all of them inspired me. It was fascinating to see the eccentricity, For example, a serial killer killing only intelligent women, or the marks they would leave after every murder,” added Samant. The garments were high on textures. A jacket being left on the iron net for weeks to introduce rust as an iron print. Textures derived from smeared tea leaves, emanated stylish subtlety. Hand weaved fabrics, linen and cotton fabrics were the USP of the ace designer.
