Mumbai: Giving in to the Shiv Sena political pressure, cinema owners in Mumbai have finally said that they won’t release Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘My Name Is Khan’ this weekend. The film will now be released after the political trouble subsides. Meanwhile, Maharashtra CM Ashok Chavan said that there is little the government can do in case cinema owners decide to postpone the screening of the film. Earlier, with the ongoing spat between Shiv Sena and Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan refusing to die down, sixty percent of single screen theatres and various multiplex theatres here have finally decided that they won’t screen Shah Rukh’s latest flick ‘My Name Is Khan’ in Mumbai. It is believed that the multiplex owners will be holding a teleconference with Shah Rukh Khan to sort out the ‘MNIK’ release debacle. Sena has been demanding that the Badshaah of Bollywood should apologise for his comments but SRK has refused to do so. The Maharashtra police have chalked out some proactive measures to counter any rowdiness. They have issued an advisory, which directs all cinema owners to keep the first three rows of the theatre vacant. They also intend to deploy more security and police personnel outside all entry and exit points in all the theatres and cinema houses, which will be running the Shah Rukh starrer ‘My Name is Khan’. Meanwhile, filmmaker Karan Johar met Mumbai Police Commissioner D Sivanandan seeking adequate security and protection for everyone associated with the film. The police assured him and even promised that there will not be any disturbance, whatsoever, at the time of the movie’s release. But the ground reality appears to be different and looks like heading for a showdown.
