Julianne Moore bats for success of gay parenting

London: Julianne Moore thinks her latest flick `The Kids Are Alright` will help discourage people from raising eyebrows at gay parents as the movie shows them as being normal just like any other family. The flame-haired actress, who plays a lesbian mother in the movie, believes the film shows different kinds of successful families that exist in the world, and proves all kinds of family set-ups can work.

Asked if the Lisa Cholodenko-directed project "normalised" lesbian mothers, she told BBC Radio 4`s Today Show: "Absolutely it does. This is a very ordinary, be it modern family. The women have been together for at least 20 years, they have two children who they have raised brilliantly, they are beautiful and well educated children. It`s a portrait of a very normal family. "Even the fact that one of them is a working parent and one of them is an at home parent, that`s very unusual these days, most people don`t have that kind of economic ease. I think Lisa was very much making a film that was not political. It`s cultural and social and about the nature of family." `The Kids Are Alright` also stars Annette Benning, Mark Ruffalo and Mia Wasikowska. PTI
