New Delhi: Bipasha Basu, who wrapped up work on her Hollywood debut `Singularity`, says she is very proud of her role of a Maratha warrior in the period romance, directed by Roland Joffe of `City of Joy` fame. The film, starring Bipashsa, Josh Hartnett, Neve Campbell and Abhay Deol, got delayed following some financial problems but it is back on track and ready to release soon.
"I am very proud of my role in Singularity. It pushed me into the territory of period romance. It was a very emotional ad challenging role," Bipasha told PTI. The Bong beauty, who is ready to hit the Indian screens with Vikram Bhatt`s supernatural thriller `Raaz 3` next week, finished shooting the film last month. "We are dubbing the film now and it is going to get released soon. It is a very big project but went through a bit of financial crisis. Roland is an amazing director and he thought I was fabulous as an actor. It was different. I had no baggage while doing the film so I adopted very well and learnt like a new student," Bipasha said. The actress, who is a fitness enthusiast, adapted well to the physical demands of her role. The film was shot in Australia and in the rocky terrain of Chambal, Orchha and Gwalior in India. "Roland was very fond of me because I was pretty agile," Bipasha said. The story of `Singularity` begins in 2020 on the Great Barrier Reef. After a dangerous dive to save his wife Laura (Campbell) trapped while exploring a colonial British merchant ship wreckage, Jay Fennel (Hartnett), a marine archeologist lies brain dead in a Boston hospital. Fennel`s coma takes him back in time to Pune, India in 1778. The East India Company is invading the palaces and a young captain named James Stewart (Hartnett) is about to embark on a dangerous mission. Along the way, he falls in love with a warrior Tulaja Naik (Bipasha). IANS
