AMD appoints David Kwon as VP (Asia Pacific-Japan)
New Delhi: Computer chip maker AMD Tuesday said it has elevated David Kwon as Managing Director and Corporate Vice President of the Asia Pacific-Japan (APJ) region with immediate effect.

Kwon is currently serving as President of AMD Korea and General Manager (Global Strategic - Samsung and Toshiba), AMD said in a statement.

He will report to Senior Vice President and Chief Sales Officer John Byrne, it added.

In this role, Kwon will be responsible for AMD's operations and sales across the APJ region, representing 11 countries -- Korea, Japan, India, Australia, Singapore, New Zealand, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam.

"David has done an outstanding job, driving end-to-end accountability with a focus on helping ensure AMD-powered Samsung and Toshiba products win in the marketplace," Byrne said.

Kwon will focus on strengthening AMD's component channel business, building the consumer notebook and desktop business further and establishing a firm foothold for commercial business growth, it said.
