Queen told William to throw away wedding guest-list

London: Prince William was devastated when he found out his friends were left out of his wedding guest list in favour of dignitaries. His grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, however, asked him to throw it away and start making the list again.
The 29-year-old William was "horrified" at the wedding plans drawn up by palace officials, The Sun reported. "I was given this list of 777 names - dignitaries, governors, all sorts of people - and not one person I knew," William said. "I looked at it in absolute horror and said, `I think we should start again`. I rang the queen and said, `Do we need to be doing this?`" "She said, `No. Start with your friends and then go from there.` And she told me to bin the list," the prince said about his 85-year-old grandmother. William described Queen Elizabeth -- who ascended the throne in 1952 when she was only 25 -- as "incredible". He said the bond between them has gone from "strength to strength" over the years. William`s comments are part of a new book on the queen by author Robert Hardman. IANS
