Howe wins lifetime achievement award

Fanny Howe has received a USD 000 prize for lifetime achievement.

New York, April 15: Poet Fanny Howe has received a USD 000 prize for lifetime achievement.The 68-year-old Howe, whose collections include "On the Ground" and "The Lyrics," won the Ruth Lilly Poetry Prize.
The award, which is "given to a living US poet whose lifetime accomplishments warrant extraordinary recognition," was announced Tuesday by the Chicago-based Poetry Foundation. The foundation also awarded a USD 10,000 prize for criticism, the Randall Jarrell Award, to 39-year-old Ange Mlinko, whose work has appeared in The New Yorker, The Nation and on the Poetry Foundation Web site.
