Prince William to marry next year; Cameron welcomes royal wedding

Royal officials on Tuesday confirmed that Prince William and girlfriend Kate Middleton will get married next year. Prince Charles' Clarence House officials in a statement have brought to light that the heir to the throne is “delighted to announce the engagement of Prince William to Miss Catherine Middleton. The wedding will take place in the Spring or Summer of 2011, in London," the statement said.

Prince William has informed The Queen and other close members of his family. Prince William has also sought the permission of Miss Middleton's father. According to the statement issued, “Following the marriage, the couple will live in north Wales, where Prince William will continue to serve with the Royal Air Force.” The couple, both 28 met more than eight years ago as students at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. Meanwhile, the cabinet greeted the news of Prince William and Kate Middleton's marriage with a “great banging of the table”. Speaking from the 10 Downing Street this afternoon, Prime Minister David Cameron said that the royal wedding is going to be a great day for our country and for the royal family. “This is incredibly exciting news and I'm sure the whole country will want to pass their very best wishes to the happy couple,” he said. He added, “I spoke to Prince William a few moments ago and passed on my congratulations and welcomed the fact he had returned safely from Afghanistan.And he said he told the second in line to the throne that the government stood ready to help make the occasion which would be a day of national celebration a "great success". Labour leader Ed Miliband congratulated the couple and said “the whole country will be wishing them every happiness”.
