Bhel's Electronic Division turnover dips to Rs 3,360cr in FY13

Bangalore: The Electronics Division (EDN) of state-owned power equipment maker Bhel on Wednesday said its turnover declined to Rs 3,360 crore in 2012-13.

However, it achieved substantial growth in order books despite operating in a highly sluggish and competitive market, Bhel Executive Director (EDN) K C Ramamurthy told reporters here.

It booked orders worth Rs 1,318 crore, an increase of 46 percent over the previous year, he said, adding that at the end of 2012-13, the outstanding order book position of EDN stands at Rs 3,805 crore.
EDN received many orders from the Indian Railways, he said.

EDN also commissioned Karnataka's largest 5MW grid- connected solar power plant under Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission for Karnataka Power Corporation at Belakavadi near Shivanasamudra in Karnataka, Ramamurthy said.

The Industrial Systems Group (ISG) division scaled new heights of performance with highest-ever turnover of Rs 1,161 crore, recording a growth of 16 percent over previous year, Executive Director (ISG) Atul Sobti said.

Value Added increased by 8 percent at Rs 263 crore against Rs 243 crore during last year, he said.
ISG secured orders worth around Rs 1,500 crore during the year, Sobti said adding at the end of the year, cumulative orders in hand for execution in 2013-14 and beyond, stand at a healthy level of nearly Rs 3,700 crore.

The Ceramics Business Unit recorded highest-ever turnover of Rs 471 crore compared to Rs 434 crore in 2011-12, Executive Director (CBU) A S Nagaraja said.
