London: The British Queen is said to be hugely knowledgeable about fine art, with the Royal Collection among the finest collection of artworks in the world. Now, it seems Prince William`s wife Kate Middleton is to become the `Queen of Arts` as she`s following in the Monarch`s footsteps.
The 29-year-old Duchess of Cambridge is to become a patron of the arts as part of her future role in public life as she is considering supporting a number of national arts institutions, thought to include the National Gallery, and the National Portrait Gallery, `The Daily Telegraph` reported.
In the coming months, she will attend a series of meetings with directors and curators at museums and galleries, to learn more about the arts world. The Duchess is expected to become the official patron of several national museums and galleries and may also act as an "ambassador" for institutions that have existing Royal links, such as the V&A where Princess Alexandra is a patron, the newspaper said. She is also understood to be considering lending her support to a number of smaller arts organisations. A royal aide said: "The Duchess has a keen interest in the visual arts and has her own strong links in that world, so she wants to see where she can lend her support to the arts going forward. "She is meeting people at all levels in arts institutions to learn more about the workings of a gallery, how exhibitions are put together and how works of art come together, before deciding which organisations she will support."
