Chennai floods: Zomato launches food relief meal delivery service

Zomato has come up with a customised offer called ‘Meal for Flood Relief’.

The heaviest rainfall in over a century caused massive flooding across Tamil Nadu, driving thousands from their homes, shutting auto factories and paralysing the airport in capital Chennai.

The national weather office predicted three more days of torrential downpours in the southern state of nearly 70 million people.

Social media networks carried many appeals for help, while others offered assistance. Joining in is restaurant-finder and delivery application Zomato, which has come up with a customised offer called ‘Meal for Flood Relief’.

There are two meal plans in place as of now, both very economical choices. A meal for two is priced at Rs 100 while a meal for four is priced at Rs 400. Both meals will be delivered in half an hour.

Restaurants like Kolapasi, Prems Graama Bhojanam, Adyar Ananda Bhavan, Dindigul Thalappakatti, Nawaab Sheikh Biriyani, Meat & Eat and Katti Roll is providing meals for  two people at Rs 100, meals for four at Rs 200 and meals for 100 at Rs 5000.
