I am fed up with item numbers: Farah Khan

Panaji: She is the name behind groovy numbers like `Chhaiyya chaiyya`, `Munni` and `Sheila` but choreographer-director Farah Khan says she is fed up with item songs.
"I am fed up of doing item numbers. I have done five in a row. Now I will be doing more of romantic songs, which I used to do earlier," said Khan. "These (romantic numbers) get sidelines. They are not even nominated for the choreography awards for the ceremonies. Love songs are being sidelines because dance numbers are what people like," she said. The choreographer-turned-director, who has helmed movies like `Main Hoon Naa` and `Om Shanti Om`, also said that she is looking forward to produce a movie without song or dance. Khan, however, would not mind choreographing Tamil star Dhanush`s latest song `Kolaveri`, which she thinks would be a challenge for any choreographer. "I am big fan of Dhanush and would love to choreograph the song. It will definitely be a pressure... The song is already hit... whoever gets to choreograph it better keep up to the form," Khan told reporters. `Kolaveri di` is from the Dhanush and Shruti Haasan starrer `3` slated to release in 2012. The tanglish (Tamil-English) number has become a craze nationwide. Khan, who has made some of the biggest stars dance to her moves regrets not choreographing tragedy king Dilip Kumar. The director brought together some 31 stars in the `Om Shanti Om` song and Khan revealed that they tried to get Dilip Kumar for the cameo but without success. "I would have loved to have Dilip saab in the song. Shahrukh was supposed to get Dilip saab. He went there personally for six days but never got him," Khan said while participating in the knowledge session at IFFI Film Bazaar organized by National Films Division Corporation (NFDC). PTI
