New Delhi: Holding placards with slogans like `We want justice`, friends and acquaintances of Neeraj Grover Saturday held a candlelight vigil at Jantar Mantar in the capital, demanding justice for the TV executive who was brutally killed in Mumbai in 2008.
In one of the most gruesome crimes of passion, Grover was stabbed to death by Emile Jerome Matthew, a naval officer, after he found Grover in his fiancee, Kannada actress Mariah Monica Susairaj`s bedroom early morning of May 7, 2008. While Matthew has been sentenced to 10 years in jail after the court found him guilty of "culpable homicide not amounting to murder", Susairaj was released from jail Saturday after being acquitted in the case. She had served three years in prison. Ashima Dey, who knew Grover, said: "It is shocking how Mariah has been let off so easily! This is a case of murder - a person was brutally killed, for God`s sake!". "We want justice. Mariah and her fiance deserve harsher punishment," added Raghu Yadav, another person who participated in the march. IANS
