Noida: Bollywood actors Kareena Kapoor, Arjun Rampal and director Siddharth Malhotra promoted their upcoming film `We Are Family` in Noida, near Delhi.
The film is produced by Karan Johar and directed by Siddharth Malhotra.
Besides Kapoor and Rampal the film also include Bollywood actor Kajol in a lead role.
Shankar Mahadevan, Ehsaan Noorani, and Loy Mendonca, popularly known as Shankar Ehsaan Loy have composed the music for the film.
Talking to mediapersons on Tuesday, Kareena Kapoor said that this is her 40th film. The film is an adaptation of Hollywood flick `Stepmom` but there is no similarity between her character and the character played by Hollywood actor Julia Robert.
“Apart from the fact that both are career driven women there are no similarities whatsoever. I have played this part the way I would have done it. Of course comparisons will be there but I think everyone knows the way I would like to play a role I mean this is probably my 40th film so its going to be in my style, it`s going to be the way Siddharth has visualized Shreya`s character to be,” said Kapoor.
Bollywood actor Arjun Rampal said that film would change the orthodox thinking of people about a stepmother.
“I think this film really takes away the stereotypical thing that a step mom is somebody who is bad who is like a witch, I think it is really much more than that I think somebody who can love and love unconditionally has got every capability of being a beautiful mother,” said Rampal.
Director of the film Siddharth Malhotra said that the film `We Are Family` is not the remake of Hollywood flick `Stepmom` but it is the adaptation of the film maintaining the essence of the original film.
“This film is not the official remake of `Stepmom` we have taken the rights but I will not say it’s a remake I will say it is a adaptation because remake means the total copy of the film and we have not copied it totally. We have maintained the soul of the film but if you have seen the promo then you would have seen that in the film Kajol, Kareena and Arjun are staying in the same house that was not there in the `Stepmom`,” said Malhotra.
The story of the movie revolves around the three characters Maya, a mother of three children played by Kajol her divorced husband Aman played by Arjun Rampal and Shreya Aman`s girl friend played by Kareena Kapoor who live in the same house.
The film is slated for a worldwide release on September 3.
