New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) on Thursday inaugurated a drinking water project at Kasan village, Manesar and plans to open three more such community facilities in the region.

The car market leader has invested around Rs 20 lakh in setting up the water ATM facility at Kasan, which has a capacity to generate 1,000 litres of purified water per hour.

The facility will benefit over 10,000 residents in the village, MSI said in a regulatory filing.

MSI has has borne the initial cost of the project while the Kasan village panchayat is the project owner and has provided land.

The panchayat will be providing the water and electricity to run the water ATM. Waterlife India will undertake operations and maintenance of the plant for a period of ten years, and will sell water at a nominal rate of 35 paise per litre.
