New Delhi: Microsoft’s CEO Satya Nadella is visiting India, indicating the growing importance of India as an under-penetrated market with huge potential.

The is Satya Nadella's third visit after taking over from Steve Ballmer as CEO in February 2014. He had first visited India on the occasion of Microsoft’s completion of 25 years in India, the second visit in December 2015 was a personal visit.

The Microsoft CEO is expected to kickstart his tour with an event ‘Tech for Good, Ideas for India’, where the CEO will interact with developers, students, young achievers and entrepreneurs. Jayant Sinha, Minister of State for Finance, Bhaskar Pramanik, Chairman of Microsoft India will also be present at the event.

Nadella is also expected to meet with customers, startups and developers, apart from addressing CEOs at an event hosted by industry association, Confederation of Indian Industry. The Microsoft CEO is quite upbeat on the company's prospects in India, and is seen focusing on cloud and net connectivity.

Like Google and Facebook, Microsoft, too is also looking to bridge the digital divide in India between the world of digital haves and digital have-nots. the company is also looking at the huge chunk of cloud pie in India. According to Microsoft data, India’s cloud is set to grow to $1 billion by 2020.
