New khadi products to be introduced in Delhi Khadi Bhawan

New Delhi: The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) will introduce a wide range of products made up of cane, bamboo and leather in its store in the national capital.
The KVIC, set up in 1956, is rejuvenating its Delhi sales outlet also called as Khadi Gram Udyog Bhawan.
"We will introduce fashion textiles, accessories, artificial jewellery, leather products, Kashmir paper mache and North Eastern items made up of cane and bamboo," KVIC Director S P Singh told reporters. The garments sold here will be designed by experts from National Institute of Design (NID) and National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), he said. The unique Kashmiri `paper mache`, organic food items and artificial jewellery would add glitter to the outlet. "We will launch it in five-six months period, with a brand positioning and a big publicity campaign," Singh added. The KVIC is revamping its decades-old direct sales outlet, which was unable to attract customers to the desired extent. The KVIC, under the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Ministry, is implementing a `Khadi Reforms and Development Programme` with assistance of about USD 150 million from the Asian Development Bank.
