Delhi: After a mesmerising start by Payal Pratap and Anand Kabra, the first day of Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week - Spring Summer 2013 is only getting better. Viewers were treated to a grand dose of the North East - thanks to designer Atsu Sekhose. As the models scorched the ramp in their alluring attires, people were left spellbound with surprise.
Designer Atsu Sekhose, in order to give birth to this enchanting display of designs, travelled to the North East, his home, for inspiration. The collection on display mirrors the effortless style of his people and the ease of summer. The elegance of clothes, accessories and shoes were all immensely liked by the spectators, as was evident by the thundering applause that followed the fashion show. Trench coats and parkas in Eri silk were coupled with bold woven shorts, silk dresses created an altogether new vocabulary as far as fashion is concerned. The solid canvases of the fabric acted as the base for stylised thread embroidery depicting bulls, and reflected the uniqueness so synonymous with Atsu Sekhose`s creation. Sekhose has created a print weaving together traditional Angami, Ao, Lotha and Sema shawls and the result is responsible for offering a graphic punch and global identity to the timelessness of treasures that the North East so boasts of. Shots of red and cobalt against a backdrop of black and white made for a pleasing watch. The designer`s collection further includes over-sized Assamese muga silk shirts paired with Mizo woven silk pants or Angami pencil skirts. Apart from these, the array of clothes also included sleeveless tops and t-shirts with sharp Manipuri woven shorts. The spirit of the North East has been beautifully captured by Sekhose in his timeless collection, and the designer has incorporated the very soul of the terrain in his art. He seamlessly weaves the spirit and essence of the North East into the global tapestry, and his collection is perfectly balanced between ethnicity and contemporary fashion!
