John Oliver getting own series

`Daily Show` regular is getting his own Comedy Central series.

Los Angeles: Another `Daily Show` regular is getting his own Comedy Central series. John Oliver will host a new stand-up comedy series starting in January. The cable network has ordered six episodes of "John Oliver`s New York Stand-Up Show," which will feature performances by Oliver`s favorite comedians (including Janeane Garofalo, Brian Posehn, Paul F Tompkins and Marc Maron). Each hour will feature four stand-up performers.
"It`s the most worthwhile way you could spend an hour each week that doesn`t involve getting Mount Rushmore gradually tattooed across your stomach," Oliver said. Oliver has been a correspondent on `The Daily Show` since 2006 and recently appeared in three episodes of NBC`s "Community." Bureau Report
