Hollywood superstar Angelina Jolie has expressed a desire to portray the evil `Maleficent` in a new adaptation of `Sleeping Beauty` because she loved the fairytale as a little girl.

Los Angeles: Hollywood superstar Angelina Jolie has expressed a desire to portray the evil `Maleficent` in a new adaptation of `Sleeping Beauty` because she loved the fairytale as a little girl.The 35-year-old star is said to be in the running for the upcoming movie, a retelling of the Sleeping Beauty fairytale from the perspective of the princess` nemesis, reported a news website.
Jolie is also lobbying for filmmaker Tim Burton to sign up to direct the project because it has always been her dream to work with him.
"I would love to. It`s all new and being discussed, but I loved her when I was a little girl. She was my favourite. Tim Burton, the chance to work with him would be extraordinary," Jolie said.
