Carla Bruni sings Bowie classic for charity record

France`s glamorous first lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy has recorded a cover of David Bowie song for a charity album.

London; France`s glamorous first lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy has recorded a cover of David Bowie song for a charity album. The 42-year-old Italian-born former supermodel did a version of Bowie`s `Absolute Beginners` for the record, which is being released to raise funds for the War Child charity.
In an apparently leaked clip of the song on YouTube, she can be heard singing the song softly - in English - accompanied only by a piano, Sky News reported on its website. Bowie`s original version reached number two in the UK singles chart in 1986 and was the theme tune for the rock musical film of the same name. Bruni-Sarkozy, who married French president Nicolas Sarkozy in 2008 after a brief romance, quit the world of fashion in 1997 to devote herself to music and has released a number of albums. She sang at a tribute concert for Nelson Mandela`s 91st birthday last year. PTI
