Mumbai: In order to avoid a head-on collision of two big releases – ‘Raajneeti’ and ‘Kites’ in mid-2010, Prakash Jha decided to shift the release date of his much hyped project ‘Raajneeti’ from May 28 to June 04.
With Prakash Jha and Rakesh Roshan being thick friends, both directors mutually came upon this decision as Jha decided to shift the release date of his upcoming project ‘Raajneeti’ as Roshan’s ‘Kites’ will release on May 21 . Talking to a news daily, Prakash Jha said, “Both Rakeshji and I felt there should be a two-week gap between ‘Kites’ and ‘Raajneeti.’ Earlier my film was to release just a week after Rakeshji’s film, but in the case of a big film like ‘Kites’ multiplexes don’t know till Wednesday if they would like to change the film schedules on Friday. As I wanted to avoid this confusion, Rakeshji and I decided it was better that I postpone ‘Raajneeti’ by a week because there’s no big release after ‘Raajneeti’ until Mani Ratnam’s ‘Raavana’.” Meanwhile, Roshan confirmed Jha’s statement and said, “I think more filmmakers need to work in close consultation to avoid films overlapping and cutting into one another’s market. Jha and I have mutually decided his film should release a fortnight after mine.” Well, that’s smart thinking by Jha and Roshan!
