Chennai: Tamil thespian Kamal Haasan has said he is delighted that the southern film industry is finally accepting new technology by welcoming the digital format.
He was speaking at the audio launch of Nandhini`s directorial debut `Thiru Thiru Thuru Thuru`, which is made in digital format. Starring Ajmal and Rupa Manjeri in lead roles, the movie is produced by Sathyam Cinemas and Real Image. "I am so happy that Nandini (director) has done a fantabulous job. Satyam Cinemas and Real Image have elevated the standard of Tamil cinema by making this film in digital format. This is picture perfect for future cinema," said Kamal Wednesday. "There were more groups roaming around the town opposing Satellite Channels and films in video cassette format when they entered our society. I was standing alone in welcoming the technical advancement in the entertainment world. Now everyone has accepted the new technology. I am sure no one can stop the growth of electronic and digital media," he added. Talking about the deterioration in quality of films being churned out in Tamil film industry, Kamal said: "It has to be corrected by the film buffs. Fans have to raise their voice. They should demand quality films from filmmakers." IANS
