Mumbai: ‘Rowdy Rathore’ opened to packed theatres on Friday, and ever since, the numbers inside the halls have only gone up. So much so, that the film has been able to gather about half a billion rupees in the first three days of its release itself! But all is not well in the production camp of Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The most popular track of the film, ‘Chinta ta’, had been in the throes of a copyright tussle, and the consequent compensation that producer Bhansali had to pay in order to steer his project out of the melee was a hefty amount. The producer had to pay an amount of 50 lakh to Hyderabad based music label Aditya Music in an out-of-court settlement – reason: the song ‘Chinta ta’ had its rights with Aditya Music. The rights of the original Telugu film ‘Vikramarkudu’ had been bought by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, but he was not aware of the fact that the disputed song didn’t belong to the producers of the original film. Hence, Bhansali was compelled to part with a whopping sum of half a crore! However, now that ‘Rowdy Rathore’ has managed to create strong waves in the country, the loss seems a petty amount – it might have been recovered in the first hour of the release of the movie!
