Dan Brown writing the screenplay of `The Lost Symbol`

Author Dan Brown is turning screenplay writer for the movie adaptation of his latest book `The Lost Symbol`, which continues symbologist Robert Langdon`s adventure.

The best-selling author of `Da Vinci Code` and `Angels & Demons`, is rewriting the screenplay based on his book for Columbia, which is developing the film version of the recent novel, the Hollywood Reporter said. Published in 2009, the book tells how Langdon, gets mixed up with the Freemasons in Washington, DC. Brown`s two book in the Langdon series have already been adapted on bigscreen with Oscar-winner Tom Hanks portraying the lead role. But Hanks name is yet to be attached to the `Lost Symbol`. Director Ron Howard, who helmed the previous two movies, is also not confirmed for the third film. PTI
