New Delhi: New Delhi is playing host to the sixth Spanish film festival that will screen movies like Garbo: El Espia (Garbo: The Spy), Hierro, Celda 211 (Cell 211) and Yo Tambein (Me Too).
The annual event, which is being held in India from march 28 to April 3, is a collaboration of the Embassy of Spain in India, India House in Spain, Instituto Cervantes in New Delhi and the Indian Government. “The event is aimed to showcase award winning Spanish films, including the Oscar-winning El Secreto De Sus Ojos (The Secret In Their Eyes) to the Indian audience. Focussing on the India film terrain, we hope to build cross-cultural themes where Spanish productions can use Indian locations and vice versa,” said Guillermo Rodriguez, Director of India House in Spain. Director Edmon Roch, producer Beatriz De La Gandara, actors Elena Anaya, Mart Atura and Lola Duenas will be travelling with the delegation to represent their respective films. The Spanish film festival was first held in 2006 and has since then attracted many distributors and producers towards Spanish cinema from across the Indian subcontinent. The festival will be open to general public for free and will travel to Pune on April 1. ANI
